Weddings can technically happen year-round. Yet there is a period in which a remarkable number of weddings take place. That's why we speak of a 'wedding season'. Now that the astronomical spring has begun, not only animals feel the urge to seek each other out. In other words, wedding season is upon us once again. Do you have everything you need to attend a wedding? Perhaps your own wedding is already on the calendar! GENTS is always happy to offer style advice – including for wedding season!
Bit by bit, temperatures are rising and the sun is appearing more frequently. You'll also notice that it stays light a little earlier (and longer) outside. With the changing season, a specific urge strikes a portion of the Netherlands; wedding fever. Before you know it, the cities are bursting with party dresses, wedding suits and of course we mustn't forget the exuberant bachelor parties. In short, wedding season is upon us once again!
What is wedding season?
You can get married in the Netherlands year-round. There's no agreement on when the ideal period is to tie the knot. Yet we notice at GENTS that a specific period in the year is decidedly preferred by couples all over the world: spring and summer. The beautiful weather, the flowers in bloom and the overall improvement in mood certainly bring it out. When you participate in a wedding or simply attend a ceremony, you naturally want to look impeccable. After all, it's a special occasion! For all men who could use some style advice for the upcoming wedding season, GENTS offers a number of handy tips for wedding attire for men.
Wedding season tip #1
Are you a guest at your mate's wedding? Then check carefully what's on the invitation. During wedding season, there's a tradition of giving guests a dress code. When such a dress code is mentioned on the invitation, you naturally need to follow it. A dress code creates unity during such a festive occasion as a wedding. Not sure what the dress code means? You can find all information about dress codes and their associated etiquette on GENTS.
Wedding season tip #2
Is there no strict dress code? Then you have much more freedom regarding your outfit. For instance, you can choose to wear a stylish, standard suit. With that, you're always on the right track. GENTS has a number of classy options if you go for this safe choice. Do you dare to go for something different? Then we recommend taking a look at our wedding suit collection. There you'll find all sorts of special suits suitable for every wedding – within or outside wedding season.
Do you have a wedding in spring, for example? Then opt for light, pastel tones. Is it rather a classic wedding? You'll always do well with an excellent grey or dark blue wedding suit. Besides colour, it's also wise to pay attention to the fabric. Can't figure out which wedding suit is most suitable? Don't hesitate to visit one of our stores. The GENTS staff are eager to help you make the right choice during wedding season.
Wedding season tip #3
The last tip we'd like to give you is perhaps the most important: never overdress. Generally, this tip is given to women during wedding season, but this golden rule naturally applies to men as well. When you're a true gentleman, you make sure you don't overshadow the groom with your chosen wedding suit. After all, the whole day revolves around the couple. Of course, your outfit may be stylish, but it shouldn't be a showstopper. That role is reserved for the groom's wedding suit.
Ready for a season full of weddings!
Armed with the above style tips from GENTS, you're naturally all set for the upcoming wedding season. The only thing you need to do now is enjoy the celebration! A wedding is after all a festive occasion. With everything surrounding it, that's sometimes forgotten during wedding season. So put together your outfit, put it on (and check yourself once or twice to make sure everything fits perfectly) and go! Together with GENTS, you're guaranteed to be in perfect order for wedding season in no time.
