Was zijde bij voorkeur met de hand in koud tot lauw water (maximaal 30°C). Gebruik een fijnwasmiddel voor zijde of wol. Spoel kort en voorzichtig. Wrijf, borstel en wring niet, en laat het niet weken. Wil je toch in de machine wassen? Kies het zijde- of fijnwasprogramma op 20–30°C, stop het artikel in een waszak en centrifugeer laag (400–600 toeren). Gebruik geen bleekmiddel en geen wasverzachter.
Droog zijde niet in de droger. Druk het water er voorzichtig uit (niet wringen) en rol het kort in een schone handdoek om extra vocht op te nemen. Leg daarna plat te drogen op een handdoek, in de schaduw en uit de buurt van warmtebronnen. Vorm het artikel zachtjes terug in model en vermijd wasknijpers om afdrukken te voorkomen.
Strijk zijde binnenstebuiten op lage temperatuur (stand zijde/1 stip). Gebruik bij voorkeur een persdoek en lichte druk. Een beetje stoom mag, maar test eerst op een onopvallende plek om vlekjes te voorkomen. Spuit geen water of parfum direct op de stof. Hang het kledingstuk na het strijken even uit om te laten uitwasemen.
