Father's Day in the Netherlands is always celebrated on the third Sunday in June. This day when we honour fathers is the counterpart to Mother's Day. In the early 20th century, this day for fathers was created by a woman from the American state of Washington. She had been raised by her father along with her sisters due to circumstances. Once grown up, she felt that fathers also deserved a special day, but how? The American woman was already familiar with the concept of Mother's Day and decided to establish such a day for fathers as well. As it happens, Father's Day was created a year after Mother's Day as a result.

What kind of gift?

Both fathers and mothers are of course always proud of their children. This means every present is appreciated. As we get older, it does turn out to be difficult to maintain this tradition.
