As soon as temperatures rise, we all look for ways to make ourselves comfortable. Since the holiday season is in full swing, there's a good chance you'll choose to spend a lovely day at the beach. The sun, the sea and the sand create a relaxed, carefree setting. This might make you feel like letting loose. Want to remain a gentleman, even at the beach? GENTS gives you some practical tips so you can effortlessly lie back and relax at the beach as a gentleman!
Beach etiquette
When you go to the beach, you naturally intend to relax and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind. That's perfectly fine. However, there are a few general rules that you, as a gentleman, naturally follow at the beach. These rules, the true beach etiquette, are essentially common sense. So you don't run over someone else's beach towels, you don't kick sand in anyone's face, and you dispose of your rubbish neatly in the bin. Furthermore, as a gentleman at the beach, you're also expected to wear appropriate swimwear.
Dressed as a gentleman at the beach
Of course, we don't mean you should sit on the beach in a three-piece suit. No, as a gentleman at the beach you're simply dressed 'appropriately'. According to beach etiquette, discretion is appreciated. That means ladies don't sit topless on the terrace of beach bars and men don't wear overly tight speedos. With a well-fitting swim shorts, you're a true gentleman at the beach. Besides, it's always wise to bring a beach polo and shorts, such as Bermuda shorts.
Expecting a lovely long lazy day at the beach? Then as evening approaches you'll be glad to have a neat white t-shirt or a polo shirt. Of course, as a gentleman at the beach you won't grab a spot on a terrace at the nearest restaurant in just your swim shorts if you're going to eat. In that case, Bermuda shorts or lightweight chinos come in handy. So it's actually not that difficult to be dressed as a gentleman at the beach. A bit of good preparation and some common sense is all you need to spend time at the beach as a gentleman.
GENTS tips for a beach day
In addition to following beach etiquette and dressing as a gentleman at the beach, GENTS wants to give you a few practical tips for a lovely beach day. First, don't forget to apply sunscreen in time. Second, it's wise to bring earbuds. It's holiday time, so there's a chance it will be quite busy. As a gentleman at the beach, you take this into account by putting in your earbuds and enjoying music while you're sunbathing. Going on holiday to spend a lovely time as a gentleman at the beach?
