Was het artikel niet in water. Leer en elastiek raken snel beschadigd door wassen en zeep. Laat het schoonmaken door een leerspecialist. Heb je een vlek? Dep voorzichtig met een licht vochtige, zachte doek; wrijf niet. Gebruik geen bleek of agressieve middelen. Houd olie, alcohol en oplosmiddelen weg van het elastiek, want dat maakt het slap.
Doe het niet in de droger. Laat het aan de lucht drogen, plat op een schone handdoek. Droog uit de zon en weg van kachels of föhns. Breng het leer en het elastiek zachtjes in model terwijl het droogt. Hang het niet op aan het elastiek om uitrekken te voorkomen.
Strijk het niet. Zijn er toch kreukels? Hang het kort in een vochtige badkamer of gebruik voorzichtig stoom op afstand. Maak het leer niet nat en verwarm het niet direct. Zet nooit een heet strijkijzer op leer of elastiek.
